Day 1 (actual date: October 6)

So, the question for the month of October is this: What if you only had seven items of clothing to wear for the entire month? What if one day you woke up and the better part of the contents of your closet was gone? What would you do? Think about it. How would you respond? Do you really think it would be the end of the world if you only had 7 items of clothing to wear for the entire month?

Here at Liberty, my residence hall has a monthly challenge. This month, we plan to stretch ourselves by choosing only 7 items of clothing to wear for the month. We want to see what it's like to put the issue of clothing behind other more important things in life. Maybe we'll forget about the way we look for awhile and focus on what's important. Think about how much of your time and money goes  into clothing. Think about how quick we are to judge one another for what we wear....

Here are the official rules:
Each participant gets to choose seven (and only seven) items of clothing and pledge to wear only these seven items of clothing for a month
*WE WILL PLEDGE WEEK BY WEEK*
Bonus item: One item of RED Liberty Apparel for GAME DAYS ONLY. </span>
EXCEPTIONS: here are exceptions that don’t count towards the seven: undergarments (including cami’s/tank tops), swim wear, work-out clothes, pajamas, work uniforms, outer jackets (rain jacket, outdoor jacket), shoes and accessories. Special occasions and presentations do not count towards your seven items either. You can get multiples of the same items for laundry purposes, but different colors count as separate items.
**Every week you participate you will be allowed to switch out ONE ITEM of clothing*
Discretion: We are not going to be monitoring you. This is designed to be a fun challenge. This is a way for you to stretch yourself in a very practical way. You can make up your own set of rules if this is too much for you to do. But remember it is a CHALLENGE: DON’T MAKE EXCEPTIONS SO THAT YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE.
Start Date: October 6, 2010 (including fall break)
End Date: November 2, 2010

I haven't decided on my complete list of 7 items yet. It's a little difficult, but I can already add what I wore today to the list, I suppose.

& so it begins....
